An Alfa Romeo Giulietta Sprint Veloce Alleggerita is a very rare and special car. Total production numbers aren’t listed but there are less than 200 examples build. With 124 hp, a 1290 cc four cylinder engine with double DC03 Weber carburetors and a manual 4-speed gearbox a Giulietta Sprint Veloce Alleggerita is tremendous fun to drive.

Alleggeritas were built for competition, and weight savings were achieved through factory fit aluminum doors, hood, decklid and bumpers. Additional changes included sliding Plexiglass side windows.

Alleggerita cabins featured several weight savings too, among them a deleted rear seat and hollowed out doors with fixed armrests. Deleted sound proofing material is less easily seen but can certainly be heard!

The engine used was a Veloce spec unit with twin Weber carburetors, Alleggerita cars also featured magnesium intake manifolds and oil pans for further weight savings.

Alfa Romeo Giulietta’s in Alleggerita version have competed in several national and internatiol rally’s including the Mille Miglia (1956 class winner) and the Targa Floiro. This car is therefore allowed to compete in modern Mille Miglia.
