In the 80's the 500 SL was one of the best cars on the market. Because of the combination of generous power, the sleek modern looks and top quality, this model was at the top of the automotive market.

Even today, the comfort of these SL’s are still above expectations. Mercedes was far ahead of its time with the build quality and tremendous handling.

The Mercedes-Benz R107 is the factory designation for the Mercedes- Benz SL -Class built from 1971 to 1989. The R107 replaced the W113 ( Pagoda ) in 1971 and was succeeded by the R129 in 1989 for the convertible models ( SL).

Along with the 500SL (C) the 380SL and the 380SLC were introduced in 1980 as a replacement for the 350 models. The 500 models included the new alloy 5.0 liter engine with 240 hp (4750 rpm) and 406 Nm (4500 rpm) combined with an 4-speed automatic gearbox. The 500 SL was built by Mercedes- Benz under the same concept; sporty two-seater. Sportiness with limousine comfort and perfect quality.

A Mercedes 500 SL is always instantly recognizable because it was the only model that came standard with alloy wheels and a small black rubber spoiler on the tailgate.
