Very beautiful original 911 SC Cabrio (1983)
Matching numbers, top original, German new delivered

From 1963 Porsche began building the legendary 911 series. A coupé was built and a Targa model, but it lasted until 1983 before the 911 came available as a convertible version. The Porsche offered here is one of these first 911’s that were delivered as a cabriolet. In the beginning there were doubts about the rigidity of the car without the reinforcement of the roof or the Targa bar. However the convertibles proved to be very stiff and as reliable as the other versions. Relatively speaking, only a few SC Convertibles were built. In total 59,995 SCs were build but only 4187 cars were suited with a full folding roof.

This 911 SC was delivered new in Germany and was then imported to America. A possible reason for this is that the EU versions of the SC Cabrio had 204 hp whilst the US models had only 180 hp. The warmer climate in the US has done the car well given the excellent condition of the convertible. In particular, the body parts are in excellent condition as can be seen on the pictures. The car is free of rust, the suspensions, soil and engine parts look like they left the factory yesterday.

The Porsche was delivered new with some attractive options. The car features leather sports seats, Fuchs alloy wheels, tinted and heated windscreen, air conditioning and two rear safety belts (an option because these belts were only required on cars from 1990).

The car has covered only 59.151 km in its 33 years of existence. The convertible is matching numbers and comes with a Porsche birth certificate to prove this. The car has recently been fully serviced and there are four new tires mounted on the original 16-inch Fuchs wheels.

Given the very good condition of the car, the 'matching numbers' and the low mileage this car is a solid investment. Enjoy the time in this very nice first 911 Convertible.

The Porsche 911 G-models were built from 1974 to 1989 and were available in different versions. There was a S, Carrera, Turbo version and since 1978 also the very popular SC.

The 911 SC was an important model in the history of Porsche because it was Porsche's first attempt to build a "world car": one model for the whole world with only different modifications that were required by law in each country. The SC was built from 1977 (model year 1978) until 1984. In the last year, only the 911 SC/RS were produced, of which only 20 copies were built in a series homologation. The 911 SC eventually appeared as a Coupé, Targa and Convertible on the market. In total Porsche build 59,995 SC’s models.

The 911 SC was the first 911 that was also available as a convertible. In 1981 a four-wheel drive 911 Cabriolet prototype was shown at the Frankfurt Motor Show. This convertible prototype was so well received that Porsche showed another 911 SC Cabriolet at the Geneva Motor Show. The first production vehicles were delivered in Germany in October 1982 while the rest of the world had to wait until February 1983 to order the new convertible.

As a basis they chose the body of a Targa model but then without the roll bar. It was remarkable that the convertible model only needed to be strengthened very slightly. The Porsche SC was in basis already a very rigid car. The roof was fitted with a removable rear window, through which one could drive the car fully covered but still have an open feeling. In standard editions the roof had to be manually folded but it was an option that it could be done electrically.

The first 911 Cabrio turned out to be a great success. From then on always convertible versions were produced in all subsequent 911 series.
